How Is Scrap Rate Actually Decided?

Not a guess, not a fixed government number — here's what really moves the price of your scrap up or down.

Three Things That Set the Price

1. The commodity market. Metals like copper, aluminium, and brass are traded internationally, and their scrap value tracks that market closely. When copper prices rise globally, copper scrap rates rise locally within days. Iron and steel scrap move more with domestic demand from mills and construction.

2. Purity and grade. Clean, sorted metal always beats mixed scrap. A copper wire stripped of its plastic coating is worth more per kilo than the same wire still insulated, because the buyer has to do less work to process it.

3. Local demand. Even within Uttar Pradesh, rates can shift slightly city to city depending on how close you are to a foundry or recycling unit — less transport for the buyer usually means a slightly better rate for you.

Why Rates Are "Indicative" Until Weighing

Any rate you see online — on this site or anywhere else — is a starting point, not a guaranteed final price. The actual number depends on the true weight and grade of your specific scrap, which is why every pickup includes live digital weighing before payment is agreed.

Rates shown across this website are indicative and can change daily with the commodity market. Your final price is always confirmed on live weight at the time of pickup.
